Hey, great read as always. It's so interesting to consider the 'cart before the horse' bit – what if the state polices shift and supervised consumption sites become legal, then Lowell has this preemptive ban?

Does the “Peace and Good Order” ordinance cover the obnoxious and nerve racking sounds made be lawn and leaf services running their loud gas powered backpack and riding blowers?

Seems like every day there is a different neighbor having the leaves collected.

Can't enjoy the fall days outside because the "peace" is being disturbed.

(Similar in summer with lawn mowing where services also use those blowers)

What happened to rakes?

Gee, I did not get the invitation to participate in Descoteaux’s poll. Did you get it? He claims. 90% of his district opposes? Sure. Even if 90% of those who voted for him oppose it, that’s not remotely close to 90% of the district. This is going to be a long two years.

I guess Councilor Belanger should ought to know his own his own district isn’t interested in him.

Anyways whole preemptive safe-injection sights ban reeked of the same aura from the fail vote adopting ADUs, putting gut feelings before actual data and expertise.

Hopefully Juran (the presume next councilwoman for the district) who has said she would defer to experts would bring a more level headed approach to it.

It’s funny with all the hubbub around this no one is asking is Lowell currently strategy even working. Because a recent article in The Sun found out all those encampment raids just sorta pushed it to Chelmsford.

The Council seems to be banking on LINC project and Frontrunner City status, and anything that gets in the way of that (unhoused and addicts) will need to move over. Although it’s funny how they’re expected to listen to experts in that project.

“Reza Pourvaziry, Chair of the UEF, described the initiative as “a space where vision, innovation, and sustainability converge with a strong commitment to action toward Urban Transformation.”
